Preparing your home for your pest control treatment
Pre-pest control treatment
- Move Furniture: Our pest technician will need easy access around your home. If possible, move furniture and appliances away from your walls and windows… just enough to allow the pest technician more space to treat the skirting boards etc and inspect for signs of pest activity.
- Clean Floors and Vacuum Carpets: Clean floors and vacuum carpets to remove any visible pests and hidden insect eggs. Mopping will increase the effectiveness of your pest control treatment, which leads to better long-term results. After you’ve finished vacuuming, we recommend emptying vacuum bags outside into the wheelie bin.
- Remove Items: Remove any open food, crockery and cutlery from the kitchen benchtop. We also recommend removing toys, clothing etc that are lying on the floor. We will be treating all skirting boards, placing a gel bait in the kitchen and bathroom cupboards and we will blow a permethrin dust in the roof void if access can be gained.
- Protect Your Pets: Before your pest control treatment, remove all food and water bowls, pet beds and toys to prevent pesticides from sticking to them. Please keep pets away from the technician whilst spraying. Curious pets can come across wet pesticides and lick it up. Pesticides can be harmful to birds, fish and snakes. Caged pets should be relocated or properly covered. Cover bird cages or tanks with a towel or sheet to prevent airborne pesticides from getting inside them.
External Spray: Close all windows and doors as the pest technician will be treating the external perimeter of the house, eaves gutters and weep holes. Best to remove any washing on the clothesline before the pest treatment is carried out to prevent airborne pesticides from getting on your laundry. Any external ponds that contain fish should be covered before the treatment commences.
